Some bin collections have been suspended this week after Covid-19 hit refuse collection services in South Lanarkshire.

Burgundy food and garden waste bins in Hamilton and Clydesdale won’t be collected this week as a result and residents are being asked to wait until their next collection date in two weeks time.

SLC have apologised for the inconvenience and added: “There has been a significant impact on refuse collection resources this week, which is affecting our ability to deliver services.”

With resources stretched, the council’s priority is to maintain recycling (blue and grey bins) and non-recyclable waste (black/green bins) collections.

Residents in Clydesdale and Hamilton whose burgundy bin was not collected yesterday (Monday, February 8) are being asked to return them to where they are normally kept as the council won’t be able to empty them.

Everyone else affected has been asked not to put the burgundy bins out until the next collection date in week beginning February 22.
