Head chef John Gillespie at The Fish People Cafe whipped up a beer batter using Glasgow’s own Jaw Brew Glide Ale to celebrate the brewery making it onto Aldi shelves in time for the seventh in-store beer fest.
Laura Bell, manager at the cafe, said: “The fizz from the beer gives the batter a great life and crunch, creating a delicious local and sustainable beer battered haddock.

“The end result is incredibly light in texture, but absolutely chock full of taste, and really is something very special indeed.”
Alison Hazell, co-founder of Hillington-based Jaw Brew, said: “All our beers are created using soft Scottish water and premium malt, hops and yeast, which make a perfect partner for this award-winning seafood restaurant.
“Aldi’s Winter Beer Festival is a great opportunity for smaller dedicated crtaft brewers like us to help increase the choice available to the stores customers across Scotland discovering the craft beer/real ale alternatives being created here.”
Aldi’s beer festival kicked off on October 1 and all Scottish stores will run with it while stocks last.
