Fine turn out at Lanark’s Ne’erday tee off
Club captain John Hughes struck this year’s opening tee shot on New Year’s morning, before 10 pairs battled it out over 18 holes for the Orchard Shield.
“The shield was donated to the club way back in 1883 and it is fantastic that it is still played for at New Year today,” said Lanark GC secretary George Cuthill.

Hide Ad“Between 60 and 70 people turned up here to toast the club at 10.30am on New Year’s Day and 20 of them went on to play 18 holes of twoball foursomes golf for the Orchard Shield.
