BUCHANAN Castle Golf Club associate professional Jason McCreadie secured his first national title at the Gleneagles Scottish Championships.
The talented golfer also picked up a cheque for £9,000 as he beat Graeme Lornie by two shots following a last round 72 for a seven-under par aggregate total of 285.

Jason (37) turned professional in 2002 following six years as assistant professional at the Drymen golf club, and he admitted he has had to work hard to win the prestigious title.

He said: "Obviously I'm very happy. This was a national title and I'm over the moon.

"I've worked hard since turning professional and it is good to see that it has all paid off.

"It's great to earn money doing something you love."

Jason's biggest previous tournament success has been at the Northern Open, which he won in 2004 and 2006.

However, the victory on Sunday means he is now eligible to compete at next month's Johnnie Walker Classic at Gleneagles, which will have a total prize fund of £1.4million.

Keith Baxter, the current professional at Buchanan Castle, said: "We are really pleased for Jason.

"He is a good player and deserves this win.

"We wish him all the best and hopefully this will be a springboard to greater success."

Gordon Dewar, the PGA Scottish regional secretary, said: "Last year, Jason finished 14th in the Order of Merit, and this latest win means he has now qualified for it on five occasions."
