Here’s 30 of Glasgow’s best lost pubs, clubs and venues from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s
Glasgow has always had a rich nightlife scene - regardless of what era the city has found itself in - today we’re remembering some old pubs and clubs that we’ve lost along the way.
Our city has been the heart of culture, clubbing, pubbing, and general good times in Scotland for generations now - but in that time, we’ve lost some of our old favourite haunts.
Take a look below as we remember some of Glasgow’s best pubs, clubs, and venues we’ve lost over the years.

25. Strathclyde Union on John Street
Now we’re not saying it was perfect, but the old union had its charms. A very Glaswegian idea of a student union, the whole building was set in a tower - which made it very inconvenient for smokers who would need to get the unreliable lift or walk down all the stairs and back for a smoke. We’re not knocking the union’s new digs though, it’s actually pretty great!
26. Volcano
As featured in Trainspotting, Volcano wasn’t in fact in Edinburgh - but in Partick, and was a long-standing favourite of Glaswegians before it burned down.
27. The Red Parrot
The Red Parrot on Buchanan Street is hardly remembered these days, but by those who were there, its held in reverence. It was a pub / off-licence on Buchanan Street that opened next to the Yellow Bird, a popular spot for teas and rolls.
28. JJ Booths
JJ Booths was fondly remembered by many Southsiders. To this day the old pub still has an active Facebook page where old punters share memories of the good old days.
